The Lab Assistant in our Diagnostics department will acts as! a liaison between clients (clinical and reference laboratories, physicians and physicians offices, other hospital staff) and ITxM Diagnostic Laboratory, by providing information, assisting in problem solving, performing specimen processing, performing data entry and result reporting functions.
Performs specimen processing and patient demographic and test ordering data entry: • Receive samples and requisitions from drivers, couriers, lab technicians, clinic staff. • Verify proper patient/sample identification matching requisitions with specimens. • Ensures adequate information is received for test ordering, result reporting and test billing.
Performs client service functions and assists clients with informational needs: • Provides verbal, faxed and hard copy reporting of test results as requested to appropriate healthcare professionals within HIPAA regulations. • Provides client with accurate specimen requirements and test related information. â€! ¢ Prints client requisitions and arranges transportation servi! ces of specimens.
Performs quality assurance, maintenance, and clerical functions: • Cleans lab equipment which includes refrigerators, freezers, centrifuges, printers, etc. • Performs calibrations on timers and other lab equipment as needed. • Maintains quality control measures on eye wash station.
Requirements: -1 â€" 3 years of experience in specimen processing and client services in a clinical lab preferred. -Ability to judge specimen integrity and suitability.
