The purpose of this position is to manage the fresh buying and merchandising activities for their beverage w/ a focus on coffee. Job Responsibilities a Manage the fresh (emphasis on beverages and bakery) buying and merchandising function for categories and sub-categories of products within the Fresh Foods with regard to trends, competitive activity, sales and gross profit to improve return on investment and market share. a Establish retail pricing guidelines, gross profit, sales objectives, program and inventory turn objectives to maximize profit potential in conjunction with the companies Express business plan and Strategy Map a Source innovate new Bakery and Beverage products, ideas and promotions including the ability to get in/out of trends quickly, seasonal and event opportunities too. a Lead department design, layouts and equipment evaluation for the development of the stores; including remodel and design changes to existing stores. a Interact with supermarket category teams and vendors to develop sales plans, co-op programs and promotions that meet both organizations goals and objectives. a Develop and maintain plan-o-grams tailored to Prepared Foods to appropriately merchandise products a Conduct meetings and visit stores to inform Specialists and Store Leadership Teams of new and existing merchandising tools available to enhance the stores consumer image and profitability, and to ensure continuity and consistency between the stores and program implementation and execution. a Negotiate with costs and promotions to maximize sales and profit in stores. a Identify new suppliers and add/discontinue products to maintain a variety of products a Supervise the performance and development of staff by communicating and providing feedback to ensure efficient operation of the department a Work in conjunction with store operations to develop and oversee training programs related to each category a Manage all vendor contracts to ensure timely receipt of rebates and promotional funding a Responsible for budget development, expense control and/or revenue generation for a department. Amount of Budgetary Responsibility: $5mm + a Supervision of team members within an area or section of a department.
