Description: Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center (PIRC) is employing Staff Attorney, Detained Programs right now, this job will be designated in Pennsylvania. PIRC is a non-profit agency that provides education and direct legal representation to vulnerable immigrants, including individuals detained by the Departm! ent of Homeland Security in Pennsylvania detention facilities. PIRC provides on-site group legal orientations, individual consultations, self-help workshops, and pro bono attorney referral services under its Legal Orientation Program (LOP), a DOJ/EOIR-funded program. Services for the LOP program are currently provided in York, Pennsylvania and at the Berks Family Shelter, Berks County, Pennsylvania. PIRC also provides free legal assistance to torture survivors and other vulnerable immigrant populations who are isolated in immigration detention and facing removal from the United States.

Qualifications & Experience:
â" Law degree and licensed to practice law before the bar of any state in the U.S.
â" Fundamental knowledge of immigration law and immigration court procedures preferred.
â" Experience working with detained immigrants preferred, b! ut not required.
â" Strong written and oral advocacy! skills required.
â" Teaching experience and/or group presentation experience highly desirable.
â" Fluency in Spanish required.
â" Well-organized and ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting and under pressure.
â" Demonstrated commitment to immigration issues and public interest law.
Job Purpose & Key Activities:
â" Provide direct services under PIRC's Legal Orientation Program (LOP), including on-site presentations in detention facilities, workshops and referrals.
â" Provide legal representation under PIRC's direct representation programs.
â" Assist in the recruitment and training of pro bono attorneys and law students.
â" Work closely with the Managing Attorney and Executive Director to ensure compliance with contract and grant requirements for PIRC's Programs.
â" Some travel required.
â" Other tasks as assigned.
