Responsibilities
- Underwriting new and renewal accounts, new business reve! nue production, servicing clients, marketing with brokers, managing broker and client relationships.
- The successful candidate will be a self motivated professional that will underwrite, manage and grow an insurance book of business that is primarily focused on Casualty lines of business.
- The successful candidate will underwrite a profitable book of new and existing accounts.
- This role will include the opportunity to cross market XL products to brokers while developing relationships and develop new business with brokers and customers and promoting the XL image within the environmental insurance industry. Travel will be required nationally to meet with clients, prospects and insurance brokers.
- This Senior Underwriter role will include mentoring less experienced underwriters in both the technical and sales aspects of underwriting to help them develop their skills as competent underwriters.
- This underwriter will have high visibility ! in the insurance marketplace and will be a resource to other u! nderwriters in the unit.
- The candidate must thrive in a collaborative, team focused environment, as we operate within a collaborative work environment where team work and strong communication are vital traits for success.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of sound business acumen combined with strong analytical and customer management skills.
- Candidate should have excellent communication skills, have the ability to be detailed oriented and flexible in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, and clients.
- The candidate also must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, attorneys, insurance brokers and co-workers.
- The candidate will have 5+ years of experience in casualty insurance ! underwriting, preferably in the service/contracting industry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- INS, CPCU, ARM or AU coursework preferred.
- Bachelors Degree required.
The successful candidate for this position is likely to have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
