As the
Patient Collections Representative you will respond to patient phone calls regarding billing inquiries. Effectively completes a variety of goal-oriented departmental tasks that will require adaptability, attention to detail and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Processes in-bound calls regarding billing inquiries and to explain insurance benefits, account balances and review/reconcile/adjust account.
- Establish patient payment schedule.
- Obtain verbal authorizations for credit card payments.
- Routes departmental To-Do’s.
- Follows all current Medicare and Medicaid regulations and requirements to ensure continual compliance.
- Focusing on reducing delinquent accounts and achieving maximum collections from all sources.
- Documenting all activities as completely as possible.
- Achieving productivity goals based on call volume, dollars collected, and aging period.
- Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
- Maintains regular, predictable, and consistent attendance
- Assisting other billing specialists, as workload requires.
- Maintains and promotes patient confidentiality
- Maintains open lines of communication with organizational leadership and inter and intra department management and personnel
- Follows all Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance regulations and requirements
- Actively participates in Continuous Quality Improvement
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager
- Abides by all departmental, Employee, and Company policies, procedures and standards
- Maintains scheduling flexibility to ensure availability to meet the needs of the department for all hours of operation
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and 6 months to one year office experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
