- Investigating suspicious insurance claims or suspicious insurance related activities covering all line of business involving claimants, agents, brokers, attorneys, medical provider, etc., to support the Claims Organization for the pursuit of appropriate remedies through the civil or criminal justice system.
- Gathering facts on issues in question through open-ended interviewing and statement taking of witnesses, employers, claimants, and other relevant witnesses.
- Obtaining and preserving physical and documentary evidence to support investigations.
- Preparing objective and concise written reports of investigations when necessary.
- Testifying and presenting evidence at administrative and criminal court proceedings as required.
- Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with insuredâs, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, corporate employees, criminal justice agencies, and the general public.
- Identify, create and complete fraud training for various lines of business supported by Chartis.
- Completing targeted claims reviews for all lines of business within Chartis domestically as assigned. This includes analysis, documentation of results and suggestions for improvement.
- Strong analytical decision making, problem solving, and communication (oral and written) skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize case load with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated abilities in time management and establishing priorities.
- Understanding of insurance terms and policy interpretation is required.
- Ability to organize data and write investigative reports is essential.
- Advanced knowledge of criminal and civil justice systems is required.
- Ability to alter workflow to create and pursue leads that would support a fraud case is a must.
- Ability to work to tight time lines when necessary is needed.
- Advanced working knowledge in investigating specialist lines of insurance is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years insurance fraud investigative experience or ten years of general investigative related experience is essential.
- A four year college degree is preferred.
- PC Skill and experience with various database search systems are a must have.
