Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Description: Elsevier is hiring Corporate Counsel -IP, Product Development and Licensing right now, this vacancy will be ordered in Pennsylvania. The main responsibilities include:

  • Providing front line legal advice and support to various groups including those involved in intellectual property/product development and rights acquisition, product sales and licensing, and consulting and other professional service offerings
  • Reviewing, revising, negotiating and drafting licensing and professional service agreements, product development agreements, complex collaboration agreements
  • Drafting, managing and periodically updating contract templates and self-service checklists and guidelines and coordinating contracting processes within the organization
  • Providing feedback to the senior lawyers and management teams on issues arising in negotiations and suggested alternative approaches
The profile:
  • J.D. with four to six years of relevant experience as a commercial transactions attorney
  • Experience with publishing, healthcare and/or health information technology contracting preferred
  • Responsive, service-oriented and highly attentive to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to explain legal concepts to, build relationships with, and foster the confidence of internal clients and ensure that agreements accurately integrate and reflect business terms and are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills and sound, practical business judgment;
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, but also as part of a team, in a global and multi-cultural environment
  • Values quality, integrity, diversity, pragmatism and productivity
