The McShane Firm LLC, a Harrisburg area law firm focused on criminal and DUI, is seeking an associate with integrity, skills and confidence needed to thrive in a growing practice. A successful candidate will become one of a very small number of attorneys in the Commonwealth (and the United States) focused primarily on criminal appellate work. This position is essentially the office appeals guru with respect to both rules and argument framing.
The successful candidate will also argue before the appellate courts fairly frequently and should be comfortable with oral argument before a panel of judges. Additionally, whoever fills this position will be expected to assist with trial-level motions practice, and occasionally must attend trial court for the purpose of assessing future appellate issues. Most of the applicants time will be spent creating work-product for the appellate courts.A successful candidate will need strong writing skills with a passion for writing and research; excellent recall of case law; good presence for oral advocacy; a firm grasp of constitutional law; and strong self-motivation.Candidate must: Be self-motivated with excellent communication skillsEnjoy continuous learning and fast paced environmentsEnjoy case law detail, have training in formal logic structures and an aptitude for scienceBe comfortable using the latest technology from legal databases to smart phonesBe a graduate of an accredited law school and member of PA BarIf this describes you, please send resume with cover letter.
