Position Description:
As a member of the Residential Capital Legal Staff, this Attorney will provide legal services to the Mortgage Business in connection with mortgage litigation. He/ she will directly manage a portfolio of mortgage litigation matters as well as be responsible for the supervision of one or more Litigation Case Managers.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Manage mortgage litigation for the Mortgage Business, handling discrete matters in litigation and managing issues as they arise across the mortgage litigation docket, both directly and by supervision of Litigation Case Manager(s) as appropriate;
- Engage, manage and direct outside counsel in representation of the Mortgage Business in particular matters in litigation;
- Identify, communicate, and serve as a legal resource to the business client and other functional departments in helping to address potential legal compliance risks and similar issues impacting the Mortgage Business identified in connection with mortgage litigation;
- Participate as requested in other Legal Staff responsibilities, including review/development of Mortgage Business or Legal Staff policies and procedures; risk identification and risk management; and providing other legal advice and counsel as appropriate.
- Law degree (JD) from a reputable law school required;
- Membership in good standing in Pennsylvania bar;
- Minimum of seven (7) years full-time legal practice, with experience in mortgage litigation;
- Private practice experience required. In-house experience helpful but not required.
- Excellent legal analysis and legal writing skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to travel up to 25% for business.
