Description
Manages assigned caseload of more complex disability claims in a timely and
efficient manner. Evaluates claimant eligibility. Utilizes! specialty consulting
resources effectively -- including medical, legal, vocational and/or rehabilitative --
to achieve optimum outcomes for claim decisions. Interacts with internal and
external customers including, but not limited to, claimants, employers, physicians,
attorneys, and underwriters to gather the information needed to make accurate
claim decisions. Analyzes, approves or denies Waiver of Premium, Unemployment,
and/or Living Needs Benefits claims as required, for contestable and/or
non-contestable cases. Provides technical direction to other claims staff as needed.
Decides disability periods and follow up intervals. Typically reports to the Associate
Manager of Disability Claims.
Qualifications
Ability to interpret and apply procedures to resolve issues.
Strong analytical, research, and decision making skills with ability to solution problems, even when th! e situation is not clearly defined within the procedures.

Strong telephone and oral communication skills.
Strong written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
Demonstrated ability manage tasks and time efficiently to meet established production, quality, service, and case management objectives.
Looking for individuals who are flexible and will work the hours required to meet business needs.
Minimum 2-3 years disability claims evaluation/processing experience.
