The Billing Assurance Specialist supports the firms revenue generation and billing processes. Duties include the following:
Act as a billing department liai! son to assist partners, practice group personnel, secretaries, billing associates and client contacts with gathering billing data and analyzing and trouble shooting billing issues from start through completion.
Respond to all telephone and e-mail requests in a timely and professional manner.
Assist the firm in complying with its complex billing obligations by monitoring term and volume discount programs, managing special pricing and rating arrangements, and producing and analyzing management reports as required.
Administer and oversee the firms billing deadlines and billing policies.
Work on ad hoc billing projects including revised electronic billing formats, attorney billing requests, new bill templates, Elite training, etc.
Research billing functionality in Elite to offer alternatives towards improving the billing process i.e., flat fee billing, use of activity codes, etc.
Develop strategies to streamline and automate! customized billing processes, to include the development of c! ustom reports, testing, setting up of new codes, etc.
Document, distribute and explain new billing procedures to partners, practice group personnel, secretaries and new billing assistants.
Process billing for personal charges.
Set up new administrative matter numbers.
Assist in the standard rate billing updates while meeting all of the Firms internal control and communication objectives.
Produce and monitor ad hoc reports. Follow up with variances and make recommendations to resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred.
At least one year of experience in an office/professional environment.
Desire and capability to learn the firms billing procedures.
Detail oriented and organized.
Must be able to analyze data and recommend solutions.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to in! teract with personnel of all levels in domestic and foreign offices.
Ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines.
Ability to work independently and follow tasks through to completion, escalating issues as necessary in a timely manner.
Capacity to learn the firms accounting software.
Experience with billing process and the Elite billing platform preferred but not required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software specifically Outlook, Excel and Word
