For detail informations about this occupation opportunity kindly read the description below. Branch Trial Attorney The candidate will work under the supervision by the VP of Claims Legal. Wi! ll perform duties of legal counsel on a limited number of complex legal matters in the defense and representation of the company in a variety of courts of law, and other related appearances. Responsible for the overall management of the outside inventory of litigated files from the Claims- Legal Department. Specific responsibilities include the coordination, management and monitoring of outside counsel's cost-effectiveness in file handling. Review proposed state regulations and procedures, and attend state regulatory hearings and legislative hearings to provide company's input for such regulations and procedures. Provide legal counsel to claims staff members on the company's largest and most significant litigated claims in the jurisdiction. Under the general supervision of the Vice President, the candidate would perform a broad range of both administrative and managerial duties as well as the management of certain legal systems and system procedures. Defend up to 30 litigat! ed and 30 task only workers' compensation cases throughout ass! igned jurisdiction. Take depositions, analyze testimony and prepare and file related reports. Represent the company in appearances at hearings and conferences. Prepare and file related reports. Research and prepare highly complex legal pleadings for cases before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board and on appeal as needed, requested or required. Provide advice, training and recommendations on case handling strategies to representatives of the Claims Department and other departments as needed and requested. Perform legal research at all levels, from advising clients through the appellate procedures. Work productively and harmoniously with others on a consistent basis. Respond positively to direction and criticism of performance. Recruit, interview, select, supervise and review the performance of all outside counsel lawyers. Recommend changes as necessary. Develop, create, implement and maintain objective performance measures to ensure quality control and cost effectivenes! s. Create coordinates and implements effective, professional and on-going programs developed to reduce the overall outside inventory on a regular basis with the use of Committee, Settlement Days and other related projects. These programs would include setting up of facilities, travelling to various locations, tracking of cases set, arranging actual meetings and settlement days with outside counsel, claims and mediators when necessary, monitoring events and tracking results. Represent the company's interest and acts as a liaison between outside counsel and claims ensuring clear communication and identification of company needs and objectives. Collect and analyze statistical data, makes recommendations, uses technology and produces accurate, neat and timely reports to the Vice President on own initiative and with little direction as needed. Ensure compliance with developed reporting requirements and billing guidelines by outside lawyers. Perform other job related duties as as! signed.

The candidate should be a law school graduate and memb! er in good standing of the State Bar. Must have 6+ years of experience as trial attorney for the legal defense of workers' compensation claims and/or civil litigation. Should be experienced with training small groups in current legal practices and procedures in the field of workers' compensation defense and subrogation. Must be willing and able to travel extensively using all means of public transportation, as well as capable of prolonged automobile driving, in excess of three hours a day, to widely dispersed venues, as required.
