REPORTS TO: Property Regional Claims Analyst
FLSA: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Investigates, analyzes, negotiates and settles claims with higher exposure typically requiring field investigation while delivering quality customer service.
Responsible for initial catastrophe claim response and on-site participation anywhere within the company's operating territory.
Participates in the Property Quality Assurance Reinspection Program.
Possesses highly technical skills and the ability to travel frequently.
A.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Listed in order of importance, frequency or sequence, 1=most important/frequent, etc.).
Determines whether or not proper coverage exists for the type of complex claim assigned, typically with damages in excess of $50,000.
Investigates thoroughly to obtain relevant facts concerning all aspects of the claim, such as liability, legal ! climate, and potential exposure and makes informed decisions o! n claim resolution.
Assesses damages on first party property losses and third party property damage, including scoping and estimating using company approved software.
Expected to travel, regardless of location or duration, on short notice for large losses and catastrophe storm team duty frequently as required.
May be asked to manage or assistant-manage catastrophe operations.
Conducts field reinspections and provides individual feedback and training.
In accordance with Westfield's reserving philosophy, establishes and reviews proper reserves for each claim based upon thorough investigation, evaluation, and experience.
Maintains effective and ongoing communications with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, other insurance companies, representatives, vendors, claims management, and business partners.
May supervise individual property files as delegated by the Regional Claims Analyst.
May be asked to substitute f! or Property Regional Claims Analyst; may assist the Complex Claims Unit.
Collaborates with internal/external business partners, and large account customers, seeking and/or providing assistance or input when needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
B.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION/EDUCATION:Required:
Five years experience in property/casualty claims or five years equivalent claims adjusting/industry related experience.
Demonstrated technical expertise in property claim handling.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management and employee population.
Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that conforms to company standards.
Minimum of overall "meets expectations" on the last two performance evaluations.
Ability to obtain Adjuster's Licenses in required jurisdictions.
! Frequent travel.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree.
!
Minimum of one industry recognized designation such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC, etc.
Ability to handle property claims with exposure up to $500,000.
C. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to utilize a computer.
Ability to communicate using a telephone.
Ability to operate an automobile.
Ability to physically inspect damaged property and/or loss locations.
Ability to travel on short notice.
