POSITION SUMMARY

The Database Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and troubleshooting of all enterprise databases. This includ! es all aspects of database administration including installing, maintaining, monitoring, trouble shooting issues and upgrading. Assists with the design and implementation of next generation systems that will support the Information Services infrastructure as well.

,,X Responsible for all aspects of Enterprise Database Management.

,,X Manages all databases, performing database administration, database performance-tuning, security, maintenance and troubleshooting.

,,X Supports prototype development by designing, modeling and creating databases, stored procedures, triggers, etc., and moving all database objects to the production environment.

,,X Responsible for ensuring that development and staging databases are up to date.

,,X Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of mappings/transformations based on source-to-target specifications, development standards and conventions, perf! orming monitoring and tuning of ETL jobs, and providing operat! ional support to production ETL processes and code.

,,X Responsible for requirements analysis, design, development, performance analysis and tuning, testing, support and maintenance of database applications.

,,X Designs and develops data structures to store enterprise data.

,,X Manages scheduled database processes supporting automated file transfers.

,,X Maintains databases, including updating statistics, re-indexing, structure modifications, capacity planning, and index analysis.

,,X Manages database security, logins, users, roles, and object permissions.

,,X Develops best practices and supporting documentation.

,,X Maintains configuration management of database objects.

,,X Works with integrated project teams, as project database administrator for large-scale modifications and new product releases.

,,X Plans and executes small-scale database modifications and SQL scripts for bug fixes, data r! epair, and functionality enhancements following established change control policies and procedures.

,,X Implements database backup and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery procedures.

,,X Supports data replication to and from multiple web sites and maintains the underlying batch processes.

,,X Meets or exceeds all measurements as defined in the Information Services Service Level Agreements.

,,X Manages software upgrades, security patches and planned maintenance to minimize disruption of services following established Information Services change control procedures.

,,X Responsible for communicating all database performance degradation to the Information Services management and support staff.

,,X Develops and maintains technical documentation and project plans.

,,X Demonstrates the commitment to customer service by providing responsive and effective support, developing solid working relationships with ! customers and Information Services colleagues, and delivering high qual! ity, value-added services that exceed customer expectations. In collaboration with Information Services Customer Services, develops and maintains a mechanism to monitor performance and customer satisfaction.

,,X Measures capacity and performance trends to determine long-term needs.

,,X Provides systems metrics, root cause analysis and proactive monitoring.

,,X Identifies areas of improvement in databases and implements improvements when approved.

,,X Works with the Disaster Recovery Team on creating, testing and updating disaster recovery plans.

,,X Provides other technical assistance as necessary for the successful completion of projects.

,,X Assist software engineers and end users with query writing, database access, and general information.

,,X Performs transaction analysis and performance tuning of database applications and batch processes.

,,X Prepares project status/progress reports on assigned ac! tivities.

REQUIREMENTS

Education, Certifications or Licenses:
,,X A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Engineering or a related scientific or technical discipline.

Experience: ,,X At least five years' experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.

,,X At least five years of general information technology experience and Enterprise integration, data models to support transaction processing, and transactional business rules.

,,X Must have hands on experience with SSIS, ETL, DTS, T-SQL, and SQL server. Any experience with Oracle or Sybase is a plus.

,,X Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and writing SQL based custom reports.

,,X Experience with SQL Server Replication.

,,X Experience in analyzing business/functional requirements and translating them into technical requirements and designs.

,,X Experience with commercial software development especially with large scale web based applications.

,,X Experience in technologies such as VB, ActiveX, COM/DCOM, XML Schemas, DOM, SQL, Web Services, HTML/DHTML, and IIS.

,,X Experience in data modeling, and developing! database scripts and stored procedures.

,,X Experience in pro! ject management including defining requirements, tasks management, resource allocations, and time management.

Skills:
,,X Knowledge of SQL (with a variety of databases), XML, and object-oriented development. Experience with system design and integration tasks, comprising design and implementation of major systems, integration of systems elements, and related support systems.
