Labor and Employment to represent Port Authority as the attorney of record in civil, labor, and administ! rative matters; provide legal advice and counsel to
Authority personnel;
provide legal services and counseling regarding
internal legal matters.
To assist General Counsel, as directed.
Job requirements include:
•Degree of Juris Doctorate from an accredited school and membership in good standing of the
Pennsylvania Bar.
•Valid Pennsylvania License to Practice Law and admission to Pennsylvania State and Federal Courts.
•Minimum of five (5) years substantive experience in civil and administrative practice with emphasis on Labor issues, ADA issues, employment litigation and counseling.
•Demonstrated knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment law and regulations.
•Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact with senior management personnel, Human Resources staff and business personnel, external counsel, opposing counsel and union leadership.
• Ability to exercise independen! t judgment and discretion and to operate effectively without r! egular direct supervision.
•Demonstrated knowledge of Pennsylvania and Federal Rules of Civil and Appellate Procedure and applicable statutes and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability and proficiency in the use of Windows, Microsoft Word and Westlaw.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred attributes:
• Knowledge/experience in organized labor and collective bargaining matters.
•General knowledge of public transportation business.
•Experience working at and/or providing legal counsel in the areas of labor and employment law to a public transit agency or similar government agencies.
• Experience in working with and directing paralegal and secretarial staff.
