This position is within the Harleysville Insurance Operations Support Services department. The person in this role will provide support to the Operations Support Services team for Harleysville Insurance Commercial and Personal Lines premium/claims coding, clerical, and output. This position is responsible for workload distribution, daily department oversight, training and documentation. Will perform complex duties including research and evaluation of coding, clerical and output functions. Provide customer-focused service and support to inquiries from local and field office employees.
Key duties / responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Research and resolve complex stat, commission and billing issues using all available resources.
  • Evaluate and edit automated system issues for premium and claim! s coding modifications. Identify and communicate issues and ch! anges to IT and processing.
  • Represent Operations Support Services in requirements and systems walk-through processes. Provide input from design through implementation.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of policy, commission and billing processing, in addition to a thorough understanding of processing center operations.

JOB SUMMARY: Serves as a group leader for a commercial and/or specialty lines processing unit. Processes the most complex new business transactions and changes. In partnership with Quality Assurance Coordinator and Training Instructor, may provide quality review, training and/or subject matter expertise to other associates. Serves a back up to supervisor and assist supervisor with agents and/or policyholders on the most complex issues.

RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Supervisor/Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs any level! of unit work including coding and inputting all new business and changes to existing policies. Responds to questions escalated from team members, management, and others regarding processing problems.
2. Analyzes and corrects errors that result from processor coding/input. Covers error corrections with other processors retraining them as needed.
3. Maintains and utilizes coding/rating manuals. Trains processors on coding/rating processes.
4. Identifies missing policy information and if necessary contacts agent/others to secure needed information.
5. May assist with the review, training and/or implementation of new system releases, transmittals and related processes.
6. Provides advice on complex transactions. Performs quality checks, reviews results and make recommendations for problem resolutions.
7. Serves as back up to supervisor.
8. Responds to government agency, attorney or internal audit inquiries.
9. Performs other duties as assigned. !

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school dip! loma. Prefer some post-high school coursework. Customer service related coursework preferred.

Experience: Four years-related work experience in insurance processing, customer service or similar role. Specific product and service center experience required.

Knowledge: Customer services concepts and techniques including related best practices. Commercial rating and coding, practices and procedures and all commercial processing systems. Understanding of interrelationship between service center functions and departments. Knowledge of general business practices. Detailed knowledge of commercial and or specialty lines policies, business rules, processing procedures and insurance company terminology.

Skills/Competencies: Command of verbal and written communication skills to interact with agents, policyholders, managers, third parties and other departments via the telephone on a constant basis. Ability to operate personal computer and! related processing systems, calculator and other business equipment. Ability to prioritize work; review computer output, system-related problems and other error conditions; make decisions using established criteria, guidelines or standards to currently classify commercial policies. Ability to review and correct all processing errors. Ability to make decisions regarding complex processing issues, work flow coordination, on the job training needs and/or quality concerns.

JOB CONDITIONS:
Overtime Eligibility: Eligible (Non-Exempt)

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended hours sitting/keying at PC. Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as needed for deadlines and phone coverage. Ability ! to lift and carry 20 pounds on a regular basis.
