SUMMARY:
The Senior Director-Legal Technology Operations will oversee technology initiatives for the Comcast and NBCUniversal Law Departments and be responsible for implementing the legal technology strategic plan. The candidate will play a key role in the implementation of the Law Departments' new document management system.Ã This person will lead a newly formed legal technology operations team with three legal applications specialists as direct reports. The role will require excellent project management, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ÃÃÃÃÃ ! Act as liaison between Law Department attorneys and staff, IT ! and outside vendors to translate business needs into technology solutions for the Law Departments.
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Responsible for the legal technology strategic plan, including intake of and evaluating new requests, implementing plan recommendations, and proactively updating theÃÃ
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Proactively foster relationships with Law Department leaders to develop and implement technology initiatives based on identified requirements.
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Function as project manager (together with outside consultant) for the design and implementation of the document management system (DMS), including understanding
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Manage the selection, implementation, administration, user training, user support and reporting for all Law Depart! ment applications including HP/Autonomy iManage
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Promote user adoption for Law Department applications and monitor application usage.
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Responsible for department-wide communications regarding operational/technology matters.
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Manage three legal applications specialists (located in Philadelphia, NY and LA) and make recommendations for ongoing development of the legal technology
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Manage vendor relationships for Law Department applications.Ã Plan and manage annual budgets and allocate resources (i.e., people and expense dollars).
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Bachelor's Degree
- ÃÃÃÃ 10+ years relevant experience
- ÃÃÃÃÃ HP/Autonomy iManage Worksite experienc! e preferred
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Legal operations experience in a corpor! ate legal department or law firm preferred
- ÃÃÃÃ Experience as an attorney in a corporate legal department or law firm is a plus, but not required
- ÃÃÃÃ Advanced technical knowledge is a plus, but not required
- ÃÃÃÃ Ability to translate legal requirements into technical solutions is essential
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Strong project management skills
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- ÃÃÃÃ Excellent organizational skills
- ÃÃÃÃ Demonstrated experience with change management strategies and implementation
- ÃÃÃÃ Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team in an extremely fast-pace, evolving environment
- ÃÃÃÃÃ Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Facilitates communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within the organization.
- Manages multiple information and communications systems and projects, including voice, data, imaging, and office automation.
- Oversees the back office computer operations of the information system, including local area networks and wide-area networks.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates the systems that support end users in the productive use of computer hardware and software.
- Develops and implements user-training programs.
- Oversees and evaluates system security and back-up procedures.
- Participates in departmental performance reviews. Builds, mentors, and motivates staff for optimal work performance.
- Researches and implements new and emerging technologies and services that will enhance the Company's overall business performance.
- Responsible for identifying service vendors, negotiating contracts and! change orders, and implementing new systems or procedures.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
