We are looking for an experienced commercial/regulatory attorney to join the global Tyco Law team and provide legal counseling and support to the Fire Protection Products business unit of Tyco. Specifically, this position will support the Fire Detection and Water & Mechanical product groups within Tyco Fire Protection Products.

Position
The successful candidate will report to Tyco's VP and Associate General Counsel and be located at the headquarters of the Fire Protection business unit in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. The candidate will work as part of a global legal team of over 80 attorneys. The candidate will support the Fire Detection and Water & Mechanical product groups within Tyco Fire Protection Products. The candidate will work closely with business management in the resolution of legal, regulatory and compliance issues. He or she will also be expected to work closely with plant and operations personnel as a counselor, legal advisor and regulatory expert. Strong knowledge and experience with electronics, software and manufacturing operations will be highly advantageous.
This position requires someone with! strong legal and interpersonal skills, as it will involve direct inter! action and communication with senior level executives as well as plant level operators. The candidate must demonstrate sound judgment and unwavering ethics, given the complexities and challenges of the business environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting global sales, engineering, technical services, operations, marketing and finance functions with day-to-day legal advice and counseling - particularly for the Fire Detection and Water & Mechanical product groups
- Supporting global manufacturing and service operations with practical, actionable counseling and advice
- Negotiating and interpreting inbound and outbound product-related transactions, including OEM, reseller, distribution, supplier and customer agreements
- Responding to requests for information from regulatory authorities
- Managing external counsel and coordinating with internal specialist colleagues in support of litigation and compliance efforts
- Wor! king with risk management professionals to reduce the claims exposure of the business
- Participating in commercial due diligence and integration activities in both acquisitions and divestitures of product and services businesses
- Training and guiding clients in complex compliance issues typical for innovative, growth-oriented, multinational companies -- such as anti-bribery, international trade and competition laws
- Coordinating with intellectual property counsel on management of intellectual property portfolio issues
- Coordinating with Law Department colleagues outside of U.S. on management of international legal issues
- Driving compliance with and constant improvement of internal controls in a public company environment
- Law degree and bar admission
- 6+ years experience -- law firm and in-house experience preferred
- Experience and skills associated with supporting businesses engaged in development, manufactur! ing, marketing and distribution of regulated products through multinati! onal, multi-channel distribution networks
- Knowledge of and experience with electronics manufacturing, software licensing and related issues a plus
- Experience working with governmental agencies and interpreting complex regulations, with court experience a plus
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
- The ability to lead, inspire and manage effectively, with unquestioned integrity
- Ability to interact directly with the business unit's senior leadership, proposing creative, pragmatic assessments and solutions to complex issues
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions, organizations and with a diverse group of Tyco colleagues from around the world
- Desire to look beyond traditional business boundaries to import and export best practices
