Position Summary

Based in the firm’s Philadelphia or Pittsburgh office, the Coordinator for the Women’s Initiative Network of Reed Smith (WINRS) will assist in developing and impl ementing programs that support firm-wide gender diversity and inclusion objectives. The Coordinator will report to the Global Director of WINRS and will liaise with WINRS committee members and administrative departments, including Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Marketing.

Essential Functions

  • Provide strategic and administrative support for firm-wide and office-based efforts to develop, retain, and advance women lawyers.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development, Marketing, WINRS and other internal departments and committees to deliver impactful programming for the firm's attorneys and clients. Will also provide information for business development opportunities and to support outside initiatives, such as bar association activities.
  • Draft internal and external communications for WINRS, and maintain and update WINRS pages on the firm intranet and external website.
  • Stay abreast of trends and innovations in gender dive rsity and, in collaboration with the Global Director of WINRS, draft thought leadership content for social media.
  • Work with the Director of WinRS to research and prepare presentations, speeches, workshop materials, etc…
  • Work closely with attorneys and administrative departments to facilitate WINRS programs such as ReturneRS (for working parents) and PipelineRS (to advance women to partnership).
  • Respond to gender diversity surveys such as the annual Working Mother Survey
  • Support strategic relationships with outside organizations and coordinate and manage the Firm’s participation in various initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain the WINRS budget in conjunction with the Global Director of WINRS.
  • Provide logistical support for related live and web-based meetings, including coordinating internal and external events, conferences, trainings and workshops.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree required; JD or other graduate degree a plus

Experience:

Experience in a legal or other professional services organization; experience with gender equality, diversity & inclusion, professional development, or marketing a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and sound judgment to sustain credibility and trust;
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organization, project-management skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Desire and ability to thrive in an intellectually stimulating, fast-paced, and collaborative environment;
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality;
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs;
  • Proficient in the relevant computer programs (such as Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Equipment to be Used: Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax machine, copier, scanner, etc.

Typical Physical Demands: Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment.

Typical Mental Demands: Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment. Multiple priorities/tasks. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels.

Working Conditions: Works in a typical office setting. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule.
