JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Product in Booking Flights is responsible for leading a department of self steering product development teams who develop products and constantly innovate to delight our customers and partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Have end to end responsibility for product tracks of Booking.com Flights across multiple devices and channels and will always push people to improve the user journey while making sure it is consistent and compliant.
- Collaborate closely with technology management and leadership to ensure alignment in strategy, collaboration in execution and overall effective use of development resources, including impact and ROI.
- Challenge, clarify and sign off on investment requests and decisions.
- Be responsible for triggering team repurposing discussions and decisions.
- Lead a team to deliver product value proposition, key features and positioning for key elements of Booking.com Flights experience.
- Drive and lead the strategic direction of the tracks, also for non product activities, and challenge the direction of other teams within Trips and the broader business.
- Be responsible to measure success KPI’s and report on team / track performance and business impact.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the company and be obsessed about customer centricity.
- Build an organization that systematically and consistently drives strategy and delivers great product experiences.
- Actively contribute to driving product management as a function across the company.
- Contribute to the growth of Booking.com through interviewing, onboarding, or other recruitment efforts.
- Develop and Empower people to do their best work at Booking.com.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
- 8 - 12 years of relevant experience as product manager, with proven track record of managing teams.
- 8+ years of Product leadership experience within high traffic sites (100,000+ visitors per day), preferably E-commerce sites or marketplace companies.
- Experience and familiarity with building end-to-end experiences in complex environments , marketplace platforms, and programs that have been successfully adopted by the ecosystem.
- Subject matter expertise in Product Management with a proven track record of building successful innovative and scalable products - vision, strategy and roadmap.
- KPIs/objectives setting, ideation and implementation process, team alignment with business goals.
- Experience working with multiple senior stakeholders (finance, budgeting, team management, recruitment, external customers, customer service, etc.).
- Experience with managing and coaching teams of senior product managers/product owners including building and growing teams.
- Experience working with product and tech departments and cross functional senior stakeholders.
- Expert in leading through influence with stakeholders including executives
- Skillful use of testing and data to move quickly.
- Strong project management Skills; how to plan, set and manage to reasonable timelines.
- While delivering projects that align with the business strategy.
- Strategic thinker, able to balance long-term vision with short- and medium-term goals.
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and get things done.
- Strong - ideally multi-year - knowledge about the Flight industry, the players, mechanics and the role of OTAs in the ecosystem.
- Very strong and proven track record of working with third parties - given our special set-up with ETG.
- Ability to deal with teams in multiple locations, not only direct reports but also peers and in different time zones.
- Data driven, business first profile is a must.
- Very strong presentation skills for different audiences - e.g. those that are very technical as well as those, in the other side of the spectrum that are not technical at all.
