USC Credit Union, located steps from USC’s University Park campus, is looking for an experienced Information Security Analyst for its fast-paced IT Department. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Information Technology and is responsible for evaluating, enhancing, and supporting all aspects of information security at the credit union: from top-level policies & risk-assessments to day-to-day administration of the credit union’s security infrastructure.
The Information Security Analyst role requires exceptional critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, often using a combination of specialized tools, techniques, and scripting ability to understand and resolve complex challenges. A passion for information security, for staying informed on developments and skilled in new technologies, is critical.
Strong communication skills are essential to effectively communicate information security risks to senior management and other stakeholders; the position is often required to author reports for a variety of audiences and to draft policies or other standards. The Information Security Analyst supports and is supported by the other members of the credit union IT team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Evaluates, recommends, implements, and administers information security solutions
Drafts security standards and policies for approval by Chief Operations Officer
Assesses, manages, and remediates security breaches and system vulnerabilities, independently and by directing relevant vendors
Evaluates, recommends, implements, and administers disaster recovery solutions, including data backup and replication systems
Uses scripting and other techniques to improve efficiency & effectiveness of position’s operations
Develops documentation and trains peers and users
Supports help desk function by providing second tier technical support
Supports network administrator function by managing network and server systems
The ideal candidate will:
Have a minimum of three years of experience in the Information/Cyber Security field
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
Have extensive expertise in administering vulnerability assessment tools, patch management systems, firewalls, intrusion prevention sensors, email security systems, and related technologies
Demonstrate basic scripting ability and experience in automating operations
Have experience working at a financial institution or other highly-regulated entity
Have some experience in administering networking devices (switches, routers) and services (Exchange, file servers, etc.)
Have an eagerness to master unfamiliar technology
Exhibit independence, focus, determination, and creative problem-solving ability
Demonstrate very strong verbal and written communication skills
Pass a pre-employment background and credit check
Compensation:
The hourly rate range for this position is $41.14 - $50.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
