Description: Delaware Riverkeeper Network is currently seeking to employ Policy-Legal-Science-Advocacy Position right now, this occupation will be situated in Pennsylvania. The Delaware Riverkeeper Network (DRN) has an immediate opening to assist with advocacy and legal cases pursued by the organization in i! ts Bristol, Pennsylvania office. The Delaware River is the longest undammed river east of the Mississippi. The Delaware's 13,539 square mile watershed is only about four-tenths of one percent of the continental U.S. land area, but it supplies water to five percent of the nation's population --- over 15 million people. Under the leadership of the Delaware Riverkeeper, Maya van Rossum, DRN works to protect the Delaware River watershed and ecosystems from threats such as shale gas extraction, pipeline and powerline construction, dredging, stormwater runoff, wetlands degradation, pollution, species decline and more.

DRN's advocacy and legal team consists of experts with a range of fields including legal, science, planning and technical. The legal and advocacy staff report to Ms. van Rossum, who is the leader of DRN and also an attorney.

Working with the organization's legal and advocacy staff to develop and pursue advocacy and legal positions on a variety of e! nvironmental issues from the local level to the state, regiona! l and federal levels. The variety of work will depend partially on the candidate's educational and professional experience. We are seeking a candidate with either legal or scientific credentials that can help us develop and pursue on a legal or scientific basis a variety of issues and/or legal cases we work on. This is not a public spokesperson or advocacy position, this is a position that will inform and support the work of existing leadership and advocacy staff.

Specific Job Duties will include:
Receiving, reviewing, and ensuring proper response to pollution hotline calls

Review state, federal and regional public notices and proceed as appropriate to sort, summarize and process to secure appropriate response

Develop and write fact sheets as assigned

Interpret technical and legal papers and reports, write up summaries, and help inform followup activities

Cull through research to identify key documents that need full r! eview, providing short written summaries as directed
