This position will be primarily responsible for advising the Human Relations Department and business teams with regard to employment law matters, and employment policy development and training. Primary duties will consist of advising on employment matters, employment actions, including terminations, harassment, discrimination, wage issues, and compliance with employment laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide guidance to the business in matters relating to employment issues. Counsel HR management and supervisors on handling employment law matters. Recommend and help implement appropriate actions.

Monitor related legal trends, developments, and cases, reporting highlights.! Review, interpret and make recommendation to management for i! mprovement of company policies, procedures and programs.

Consult with internal and external legal counsel, as appropriate, to ensure compliance with employment legislation.

Respond to day-to-day legal issues raised within the organization and, according to circumstances, provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution.

Employment counseling, covering all aspects of employment laws (e.g. civil rights, wage and hour laws, leaves of absence, disability-related laws, immigration laws) as they relate to and affect business decisions.

Assist in drafting multinational employment agreements, confidentiality agreements, separation agreements, expatriate agreements, etc.

Assist in handling administrative claims (e.g. discrimination, wage and hour, workplace safety) from filing of the claim to conclusion of the agency process.

Assist in managing employment litigation matters and agency claims in conjunction with Global ! Litigation and Regional General Counsels.

Partner with Human Relations and Compliance teams in educating management and employees on benefit and employment issues.

Provide advice and counsel to the business on federal, state and local employment laws, including unemployment compensation, worker's compensation, wage and hour, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, and discrimination issues.

Coordinate, draft, and execute corporate responses to various employment situations.

Research, evaluate, and advise on various employment issues that may or do result in litigation. Responsibilities may include preparation of pre-trial documents, witness depositions, and other related activities.

Participate on various Human Relations projects, including global employment risk assessment and potential remediation.

Conduct or assist with employment-related investigations and advise management regarding disciplinary matters.

Qualifications

! Must understand and be able to apply a wide range of legal principles, ! theories and concepts in the related field. Knowledgeable of employment litigation practice and familiar with hearings and trials.

Expert knowledge of employee relations and compliance issues. Knowledge of international employment laws preferred.

Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes.

Must possess the ability independently to determine and develop solutions to complex legal issues. Solutions must be imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with organization objectives.

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), Juris Doctor degree, and at least five years of legal experience required.

Legal experience focused on employment matters with a law firm and/or corporate law department preferred. Experience practicing in-house for a multinational or multi-state corporation preferred.

Employment litigation experien! ce a plus. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

Licensed in good standing to practice law in Pennsylvania. Bar admission in other U.S. jurisdictions will be considered, with commitment and qualification to obtain license in West Virginia or Pennsylvania.
