Detailed Description
Drives a gasoline or diesel powered tract! or-trailer combination (capacity over 26,001 pounds), usually long distance to transport and deliver medical and surgical products to customer location.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Complies with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company regulations, policies, and standards pertaining to fleet safety compliance.
Drives truck to destination and returns to origin applying knowledge of highway conditions and commercial driving safety regulations.
Transports and delivers products in accordance with the routing schedules developed by management.
Operates truck in difficult delivery situations such as congested city streets and narrow passageways.
Maintains current driving licenses and medical certificates required to operate assigned vehicle.
Utilizing a vehicle inspection check sheet, inspects truck for defects before and after operations.
Turns in vehicle inspection sheet daily to warehouse manageme! nt and notifies management of any defects.
Completes ! driver log or trip report in accordance with DOT regulations.
Verifies count and condition of products loaded and unloaded, making reports or overages, shortages, and damage as required.
May load or assist in loading and unloading trucks at origin and destination.
May assist in picking, wrapping, and stacking product on pallets.
Instructs teammates loading trailer/van of proper sequencing of orders to coincide with anticipated delivery route.
Secures loads and assures loads are within vehicle weight limits.
Ensures good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional manner.
Completes all documentation and manifests required to indicate proper shipment and receipt of product.
Removes boxes, pallets, and waste from vehicle after completion of shipments. Recovers pallets from customers and stacks pallets in proper storage location.
SUPPLE! MENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
May assist customer in placing stock in customer storage room.
May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
May ensure that accounts receivable invoices are correct.
Performs additional duties as directed.

STRENGTH REQUIREMENT:

EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
General knowledge of a variety of basic topics, such as math, reading, basic accounting, typing, etc. Equal to a high scho! ol diploma.
